This 1973 Dodge Challenger was purchased by the seller in 2014, and has since undergone a custom build featuring the installation of a 470ci V8 and a four-speed manual transmission as well as a repaint and body modifications in the style of a 1970 Challenger R/T model. Additional equipment includes a Dana 60 rear axle, four-wheel disc-brakes, a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock dual-plane intake manifold, exhaust headers, 15″ Rallye wheels, window louvers, a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter, and bucket seats.
The body was refinished in its current orange color during the refurbishment according to the seller, and a 1970-style grille, taillight panel, fenders, and side markers are installed. Features include dual hood scoops, R/T badging, body-color exterior mirrors, rear window louvers, a rear lip spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets.
Painted Rallye wheels feature polished trim rings and are wrapped in staggered-width 15″ BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A 14″ spare fitted with a Goodyear Polyglas tire is stored in the trunk. Braking is from power-assisted front and rear discs with drilled and slotted rotors.
The black interior features vinyl upholstery on the front bucket seats and the matching rear bench. The car is equipped with a heater, an AM/FM radio, a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter.
Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit mechanical odometer was reset at the time of the build and indicates 0 miles. Total mileage is unknown. The seller notes the windshield wipers are inoperative, and the speedometer cable and under-dash wiring will require replacement.
The original 318ci V8 was removed and replaced with a 470ci stroker V8 built by Indy Cylinder Head of Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2019. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum dual-plane intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a COMP Cams dual-tappet camshaft, and aluminum wedge cylinder heads as well as an MSD ignition system and coated exhaust headers.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via an A833 four-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 rear axle equipped with 3.73:1 gearing. The seller notes that the fender tag has been removed.
