This 1970 Dodge Challenger was built for the 2015 SEMA show by Pure Vision of Simi Valley, California, and is powered by a 472ci Hemi V8 paired with a three-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive and Strange S60 rear axle. Coined the “Day 2 Challenger”, the car is finished in Toxic Orange over black and features a satin black Shaker hood and rear spoiler, air conditioning, a custom sound system with an Alpine CD stereo, a B&M shifter, and power-assisted Wilwood front disc brakes as well as Hotchkis suspension components, 15″ Cragar wheels, TTI Headers, and an Accel electronic ignition, coil, and plug wires. The car was featured on the cover of Car Craft magazine in 2015 and was acquired by the seller in 2021.
The car is finished in Toxic Orange and features a satin black Shaker hood and rear spoiler. Equipment includes a flip-up fuel cap, quad headlamps, quarter panel scoops, chrome bumpers and door handles, and quad-tipped exhaust outlets that exit through the rear valance. The car is said to have been stripped and refinished by Mick Jenkins of Pomona, California in 2015.
The chrome-finished 15″ Cragar wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 215/65 up front and 275/60 out back. The car is fitted with Hotchkis front and rear suspension components, sway bars, and Fox shock absorbers. Braking is handled by power-assisted Wilwood front discs and rear drums.
The cabin features front buckets and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl joined by a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes air conditioning, faux wood dashboard accents, a floor-mounted B&M shifter, a custom sound system with an Alpine CD stereo and trunk-mounted amplifiers, lap belts for all occupants, and Challenger-branded floor mats.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer, 6,500-rpm redline tachometer, a combination gauge, and an electric clock. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 200 miles, 40 of which have been added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 426ci Hemi V8 was reportedly refurbished and displacement was increased to 472ci. Additional work included fitting a polished serpentine drive system, an Accel electronic ignition, coil, and plug wires as well as TTI Headers, chrome valve covers, and a custom dual-outlet exhaust system. A fluid service was performed in 2021.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a replacement three-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive and Strange S60 rear axle.
